(Travel Jeju)Jeju island

Jeju island is practically made up of volcanic mountains and little parasite islets
and it is the biggest island in Korea and the population is 570,000

Volcanoes in this island started erupting from 1,200,000 years to 25,000years.
For the reason, there is the highest mountain in South Korea named 'Halla Mt'(1950m) in the middle and 368 parasite craters all around Jeju island.

When it rains it penetrates directly into the under ground because 90% of Jeju island is covered by lava rocks and soil. That's why there are virtually no rivers in this island. But it has diverse forest
and pure mineral rich water coming from cracks of lava rocks.

For a long time, Jeju island was an important stronghold in the ancient sea route because geographically it is surrounded by three big countries faced Korean peninsula to the north, China to the west and Japan to the east.
Actually Jeju island was an independent maritime kingdom(Tamra Kingdom) before it was occupied by Korea Dynasty in 1105 but the name 'Tamra' has been changed to 'Jeju' since 1223.

This island has unique culture and dialect because it has been remote for a long time. It sounds fascinating for travellers and it's also makes the island unique, and attracts tourists

This island is registered by UNESCO as natural, geological and biological World Natural Heritage Property.(2002, 2007)

Jeju island is the only place which has three titles from UNESCO and it is one of 7 wonders of nature of the World.
